Public Safety

Candice is from a law enforcement family with great respect and admiration of our sworn officers and their families. Her record as a County Commissioner in 2005 and 2006 reflects her commitment to law enforcement. She received the endorsement of the FOP in 2006.

Candice supports collective bargaining and protecting the integrity of the current pension system with emphasis on preventing any further deterioration. She supports the “take-home” car policy to deliver increased police presence at no additional hourly cost to the citizens.

As President she will respect the autonomy of the Office of the Sheriff and his leadership role with regard to the allocation and disbursement of budgeted funds.

Safe Communities are the foundation of a viable and thriving County and Candice supports adequate funding for the operation of the CCSO, Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Correctional Officers, with an emphasis on education and outreach programs that promote safe and thriving communities.

Public Safety encompasses the work of the career EMS, Dispatcher, Animal Control employees and Volunteer Fire and EMS Departments. All of the men and women who serve our County as first responders are essential to the well being of our citizens on any given day. Candice understands the importance of communication and collaboration to ensure that these important responsibilities are carried out in the most professional, compassionate and respectful manner possible for our citizens. She will hold the safety and well being of our citizens to the highest standard and reciprocate with those same high standards in all of her dealings with our County’s first responders.
